General Furbid Questions:

Question: What is Furbid?
Answer: Furbid is the worlds first and most popular Furry Auction Site.

Question: What is Anthropomorphic?
Answer: For the purpose of Furbid, Anthropomorphic is defined as "Any anthropomorphic or therianthrophic related item". A general rule of thumb is to ask yourself if the focus of the item is of an anthropomorphic or therianthrophic nature, or if such content is just filler, or an afterthought. If it is the focus, then chances are it can go on Furbid. Otherwise it may not be allowed. In cases of question, please feel free to contact the
Administauration with your question.

Question: What about Anime, it is popular after all?
Answer: Most anime are not allowed on Furbid. It is true, there are many popular anime that sell well, but the majority of them do not possess enough Furry related content to justify their placement on Furbid.

Question: What about Mythological or Fantasy Creatures?
Answer: As a general rule, we do not allow them. Fairies, Elves, and humaniod kinfolk are not considered Furry enough to be acceptable. However we do allow Unicorns, Dragons and other reptilian creatures.

Question: Yerf does not allow Centaurs, why do you?
Answer: Simply put, because we do. Centaurs are Taurs which in the opinion of the Admins are the definition of Anthropormorphic. Another way to look at it would be to consider removal of Centaurs would require removal of Felitaurs, then Chakats, and for that matter all forms of Taur. Not happening.

Question: I do not understand this whole Fanart/Parody-art and Cosplay issue. What is the difference, really?
Answer: There are many different opinions around the world on this one. Some are based on speculation, some on legal precedent, some on rumor and some on nothing at all. While all of those are fine for their purposes and may be useful off Furbid, when one is on Furbid they are bound to the following rules.
It is the decision of the Administration of Furbid that both Fanart and Parody-art are not allowed to be sold on Furbid. However, Cosplay Art is fully acceptable.

As always, any questions regarding if something will or will not be allowable on Furbid, or if it will or will not be considered Fanart, may be addressed to the Furbid Administration
here.

General Seller Questions

Question: Is there a Fee for Using Furbid?
Answer: NO. FurBid was the original Anthropomorphic Auction House. Not only in idea, but also in that for years it was the only Truely Free service. From its very origins in November 1999, it was decided that the core services of listing and bidding shall forever remain free where FurBid is concerned.

Question: How do I know what category to list an item in?
Answer: Start by reading the Furbid
Policies page. Each of the sections are detailed there. If you are still confused about where to list an item email us and ask.

Question: What is the difference between Proxy Auction and Normal Auction?

Answer:

Question: What is the minimum bid I should start my auction at?
Answer: All items have a different value to whomever is looking at it. We recommend that you list an item with the minimum value you are comfortable letting it go for. Remember this is a legally binding contract you are entering into and you are required by law to complete the transaction, even if you do not feel comfortable with its selling price. Failure to do so can result in severe legal penalties.

Question: Why are only US Dollars allowed for auction listings?
Answer: As the exchange rate is constantly in flux, we are unable to keep track of each and every currency out there. As such, due to this server residing in the United States, being governed by US Law as well as California Law, it has been decided that all transactions may be listed in US Dollars only. Sellers are, however, free to request buyers to make payment in another currency at the current exchange rate at the time of auction close if they list such in their auction. FurBid will not get involved in this process if there is a disagreement, other than to point out policy dictates auctions are in US Dollars.

General Buyer Questions

Question: How do I Place a bid?
Answer: This is perhaps the most important process in the history of Furbid. Please note, if you place a bid you are legally obliged to complete the transaction. Failure to do so may have severe legal penalties. Anyway, here is the instructions:

  1. Open your Auction Page
  2. Scroll to the bottom
  3. Fill in the amount you are wishing to bid in the "Your Maximum Bid: $" box
  4. Fill in your name and password
  5. Click the "Place Bid" Pip then click the [Submit] button

Question: Hey - two bidders have the same amount at closing. Which one of them wins?
Answer: Oops, the software is not 100% perfect. This is a known problem that happens under certain unique circumstances. If it happens too you, you need to know exactly which one of you wins. In this case the first listed bidder with the closing amount wins. Not the last, but the first.

Question: I won the auction YAAAAY!!! Now how do I pay for it?
Answer: You should contact the seller and ask them. Furbid does not control this. However, there are many methods that are common:

Question: How do I make International Payments?
Answer: This varies by where you live. Most common use is through the
Paypal Service. However, this is not available to all countries or to all users. In these cases there are still a few options available to you.
Special Note: As of September 23, 2004 PayPal may no longer be used for any item they define as for mature audiences. FurBid does not endorse, nor condemn, the use of Paypal, but we encourage you to abide by all official policies. Please, you have been warned.

General Shipping Questions

Question: What is shipping & handling? What is a reasonable charge for this service?
Answer: Shipping is obviously the price associated with using a shipping service. Handling is a term applied to the surcharge a seller may apply to help pay for extras such as shipping supplies, time to package, transport expenses, and similar. Generally sellers are allowed to ask whatever they want to for S&H charges, however they are required to inform the bidder if they have a handling charge on the auction page itself. Hiding such before the auction closes is considered dishonest and is not generally tolerated.

Question: What is the proper way to package my art for delivery?
Answer: Coming Soon

Question: How does Postal Insurance work?
Answer: This varies by country. Our advice is too speak with your local Postal Office and ask them, or log into your national Postal Office website. For example the USPS Postal Insurance page can be found
here.

Question: My item was damaged in shipping who is responsible?
Answer: Furbid does not have the power to dictate who is responsible. Instead, we are going to suggest to you that you always have your winnings insured. It may seem like an inconvenience to do this all the time, but it is well worth it the time that one peice of art you fell in love with meets its demise because the Postal Service decided to use a Wood Chipper to cancel the postage.

Question: How long should I allow for shipping?
Answer: This varies according to a number of factors:

Question: My item was intercepted by Customs and Confiscated. What can I do?
Answer: Technically you can do nothing. If you are a purchaser of an item in a country where the item is considered contraband, you are responsible for knowing it is illegal to purchase it. In this case the seller met their obligation by shipping the item to you.

General Feedback Questions

Question: What is Feedback?
Answer: Coming Soon

General Other Questions

Question: Do you have a method of secure communication?
Answer: First and foremost, there is no such thing as 100% secure. With enough time and effort any form of encryption may be broken. You must understand with computers, every single form of information is at risk. There are methods, however, that one may take to better secure information. One such method used by Furbids Administauration is the
GnuPG Privacy Guard.

Note: If you have need of sending an encrypted message, Ayukawataur's public key may be found [here]

Question: Fan names may be cute, but who are you really?
Answer: A wonderful question that I thought you would never ask. I will be adding in a link here soon that will take you to a page that should answer your question. Until then, you will have to survive on wondering.
