You're bidding on a tail-sized piece (16" wide by 36" long) of garment-quality faux fur. It's a super-soft, heather gray fur, with a hidden surprise... the underfur and backing are brilliant red, like molten lava under gray ash. (The red is just a whisker away from primary red, despite the strong bluish cast the camera picked up.) What's special about Tailkutz?Pile fabrics like faux furs almost always have the pile direction (the way the fur lies) running parallel to the length of the fabric. This means that for the fur to lie along the length of a tail, you have to cut the tail long-ways on the fabric. If you're using a pattern like Lone Wolf's fox/wolf tail, (offsite link) you need at least 29" of fabric length, though only 11" of width. (For Silver Seams' generously-sized wolf tails, we require a full yard of length, to 14" of width.) Fabric stores generally will only sell you the full width of fabric, so many DIY fursuiters (and a few commercial ones, to our dismay) end up buying a shorter length and cutting their tail widthwise. This results in fur pile that lies in an unnatural direction, and a tail with a noticeable "part" down the middle back! Visit the Silver Seams Tailkutz page for more...
